2009 DELINQUENT LIST OF PROPERTY TAXES
PUBLICATION OF THE TAX LIEN SALE OF DELINQUENT REAL ESTATE AND MANUFACTURED HOME TAXES IN LA PLATA COUNTY
PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that I will, according to law, offer at Public Sale, at the La Plata County Courthouse, 1060 E. 2nd Ave., Durango, Colorado, in the County Commissioners meeting room on the 19th day of November, 2009 and succeeding days commencing at the hour of 8:30 a.m. of said day, so many of the following described real estate and manufactured home property tax liens situate in the said county, on which taxes for the assessment levied, and which taxes for the year 2008 have not been paid as shall be necessary to pay the taxes herein below set down, delinquent interest, penalties, advertising and fees, to wit: It is the buyer’s responsibility to research the allowable legal and physical uses of the property on which they are paying the taxes and receiving the lien. The recommendation of the Treasurer is that you consult with private legal counsel prior to participation in the tax lien sale. Redemption interest for the 2008 Tax Lien Sale Certificates of Purchase will be at the rate of 10% per annum. Portions of a month shall be counted as whole months pursuant to law. WRONGFULLY SOLD LIEN - If a lien is wrongfully sold and the county must pay the certificate holder the accrued interest, the rate will be 8% per annum for the delinquent tax sold this year pursuant to C.R.S. 39-12-111. Purchasers are assumed to understand and accept the element of risk involved in the purchase of tax lien sale certificates. Pursuant to C.R.S. 39-11-151 “No tax lien shall be sold to an elected or appointed official, to a county employee or to a member of the immediate family of such person or to the agent of any such county official or employee during the time the official or employee holds office or is employed.” Proposed guidelines pertaining to the actual tax lien sale procedures will be announced at the sale.
In order to qualify as a registered purchaser at the tax lien sale you must go to the Treasurer’s office at 1060 Main Ave., Suite 103, Durango, Colorado, complete a W9 form and be assigned a bidder number.
The amount due, as published, is for November, 2009. If payment is to be made prior to November 19, 2009 please contact the Treasurer’s office for the correct amount due. ANY PAYMENT MADE AFTER THE LIST IS SUBMITTED TO THE PUBLISHER MUST BE MADE WITH CASH OR CERTIFIED FUNDS.
