Assessor’s Office to Send Requests for Information on the Agricultural Use of Properties
On January 1, 2012, Colorado House Bill 11-1146 became effective and clarifies the requirements for the agricultural classification of land that underlies residential improvements. The bill requires that the residential improvements on agricultural land be “integral” to the agricultural operation for the land underlying the residence in order for the property to be classified agricultural. La Plata County Board of County Commissioners Appoints New Chair
At their January 3, 2012 Special Business meeting the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners appointed Commissioner Robert A. (Bobby) Lieb, Jr. as Chair of the Board for 2012. Commissioner Wallace (Wally) White was named Vice-Chair. Commissioner Lieb replaces outgoing chair, Commissioner Kellie C. Hotter. Chair of the Board is a one-year rotating position.

Approved Medical Marijuana Licensing Regulations for La Plata County

Ignacio Area Corridor Access Plan (IACAP)
A landmark comprehensive planning effort is nearing completion, marking the first time that the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, Colorado Department of Transportation, the Town of Ignacio, and La Plata County have entered into a collaborative agreement to work on an extensive transportation planning project.

New Office Hours for the La Plata County Treasurer and Public Trustee
Effective December 5, 2011, the Office of the La Plata County Treasurer and Public Trustee will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily and will close to the public at 4:00 p.m. The purpose of this change is to ensure adequate time to complete the day’s transactions by 5:00 p.m.
