10:00 a.m. – WORK SESSION: The Board will hold a Work Session with staff to discuss the proposed creation of a Federal Mineral Leasing District and Board in the Anasazi Room of the La Plata County Courthouse, 1060 E. 2nd Avenue, Durango.

La Plata County Weed Management Office in a New Location
Durango, CO – The La Plata County Weed Management Office has moved to the La Plata County Courthouse located at 1060 E 2nd Avenue, Durango. Rod Cook, County Weed Manager, has his office in the Building Department, located in the northeast side of the Courthouse basement. The Weed Mapping Technicians have moved to the GIS office, located on the northwest side of the ground level in the Courthouse. Read more »
La Plata County Road & Bridge Annual Roadway Striping
Durango, CO – The La Plata County Road and Bridge Department conducts road painting operations starting in May and, depending on the weather, may continue into early fall. Roadway striping hours are usually between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to avoid peak-hour traffic. Read more »

Road Work to Commence on County Road 250
Durango, CO – La Plata County will be working on County Road 250 (East Animas Road), from the intersection of County Road 251 (32nd Street), north to the La Plata Electric Association substation at 989 County Road 250, a distance of 0.7 miles.

Road Construction to Commence at the C.R. 141 and C.R. 210 Intersection
Durango, CO –La Plata County has contracted with Weeminuche Construction Authority for construction of turn lanes at the intersection of County Road 141 and County Road 210. The proposed improvements will increase safety by providing right and left turn lanes on County Road 141 for vehicles turning onto County Road 210.

La Plata County Commissioners Accepting Applications for a Proposed “Federal Mineral District Board”
Durango, CO - The Board of County Commissioners is soliciting applications from interested individuals to serve on the Board of Directors of the proposed “La Plata County Federal Mineral District.” If the district is established the new Board of Directors will be responsible for distributing approximately $500,000, on an annual basis, of federal mineral lease funds to areas within the County that are socially or economically impacted, either directly or indirectly, by the development, processing or energy conversion of fuels and minerals. County to Proceed with Medical Marijuana Regulatory Efforts
Durango, CO – After receiving information from La Plata County's insurance provider and thoroughly reviewing and clarifying La Plata County’s liability coverage and potential liability exposure with respect to its regulatory activities related to medical marijuana, La Plata County Attorney Sheryl Rogers today recommended to the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners that the County should proceed with its medical marijuana regulatory efforts rather than to consider a ban on medical marijuana cultivation and infused-product manufacturing facilities.
