Chip and seal projects begin on county roads
Posted on 07/31/2017

The La Plata County Road & Bridge Department will begin chip and seal projects on Monday, starting with County Road 501 at the intersection of CR 501 and CR 501A. This project will extend 5.6 miles south to the intersection of CR 501 & CR 502.  Work is estimated to be complete by Thursday, Aug. 3.

On Aug. 7-8, crews will chip and seal 2.9 miles of County Road 240 west to the intersection of CR 240 & CR 243. On Aug. 9, work will extend 1.6 miles along Country Road 243 north of that intersection to the end of asphalt.

Regular working hours will be from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Traffic will be reduced to one lane while work is in progress, and a pilot car will be used to safely guide vehicles through the work zone.  Delays of up to 20 minutes should be anticipated; however, every attempt will be made to minimize traffic delays during peak morning and afternoon commuting hours.  Motorists are encouraged to allow a little extra travel time for their commute and to drive with caution through the work zone, for their own safety and the safety of the work crews.  Inclement weather could cause a delay of scheduled completion dates.
