The Finance and Central Services Department includes the Procurementand Contract Management, Facilities Management, Information Services, Finance and Accounting, Fleet Management and Central Services divisions. It provides a variety of administrative and technical support to all offices and departments of County government.
The Finance & Accounting staff prepare and administer the county budget, process accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and administer grants and coordinate annual audits. La Plata County is proud to have been awarded the prestigious National Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for years 1989-2002, evidencing our high level of commitment, professionalism and accountability to our citizens. Only 14% of the 3,000 counties nationwide earn the award. The county also received the Government Financial Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation award for years 1999-2004, fewer than 3% of counties of comparable size nationwide earn this recognition.

Information Services staff plans for the county’s telecommunications needs and provides technical support for the county’s 250 pc users, 15 network systems and coordinate with other agencies to maximize and improve computer and telecommunications capabilities.
The Facilities Management Division maintains the County's offices and grounds and coordinates preventive maintenance, improvements and repairs to county facilities.
The Fleet Management Division oversees the maintenance, repair and replacement of all county-owned vehicles and heavy equipment.
The Procurement Division is responsible for the procurement of supplies, services, and construction in accordance with the Procurement Code, as well as the disposal of supplies and equipment for all County departments and offices.
