Bonding: How do I bond someone out of Jail?

In order to bond a person out of jail, first find out from the court or from the Detentions' staff the amount of the bond, if any. Also ask if the bond is a "cash of the defendant only" bond, or if a commercial bonding company can be used.

You then have two major options. You can bring the amount of the bond to the jail in cash, (no checks accepted) or you can contact a commercial bondsman (listed in the yellow pages) and see what they would charge you to post a bond.

If you choose to post the cash bond, you will need an additional $40 cash, $10 of that is a bond fee charged by the court and $30 is a booking fee. If you use a commercial bondsman, they usually pick up the $10 bond fee, but you will still have to put up the $30 booking fee.

There is an option called a "Property Bond", but that is handled strictly through the court, takes a lot of time, and great amounts of paperwork.
