What are the current political parties in Colorado?
Current political parties are available on the Colorado Secretary of State's website. Voters may also register as "unaffiliated" if they do not want to join a political party.
How do I register to vote?

Am I registered to vote?
You may verify your voter registration information online at the Colorado Secretary of State's website. To protect your privacy, you must enter your name, date of birth and zip code of your residential address to access your registration information.
Can I always receive my ballots by mail?
Yes, you may request to have all your ballots mailed to you for every election. Simply complete, print and sign a Mail-In Ballot Application.
Mail ballots cannot be forwarded by U.S. mail. To make certain your mail ballot is sent to the correct address, all address changes should be made 29 days or more before the election.
Can I register to vote on-line?
Yes. Please visit the Secretary of State at https://www.sos.state.co.us/Voter
What are some of the duties of the election judges?
- To open and close the polls.
- To be responsible for all election materials.
- To maintain order in the polling place throughout the day.
- To ensure that no electioneering is going on in the polling place or within 100 feet of any building in which a polling place is located on election day.
- To perform all duties courteously, efficiently and in accordance with the law.
Where can I register to vote in person?
You may register to vote in person Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the following locations:

How do I update my address?
If you move from your voter registration address or change your mailing address, you must change your address with the County Clerk & Recorder. You may update your address in person or by mail, fax or email. (signed PDF attachment)

How do I obtain a certified document of registration for in-state tuition purposes or other purposes?
The certificate can be obtained in person or by mail. You must provide identification if requesting in person.
In person: Go the the La Plata County Elections Department, 98 Everett Street Suite C Durango, CO 81303. The cost is $1.25 check, cash or money order.
