Solid Waste and Trash Disposal

Many County residents contract with private haulers to pick up and dispose of household trash.

La Plata County offers two convenience centers where residents can take their household trash for disposal and also drop-off their recyclables at the same time as a way to reduce the amount of trash still being placed in a landfill.

The Bayfield Convenience Center is located on CR 223, which intersects with US Highway 160 approximately half the distance between Bayfield and Durango. The address is 4496 CR 223.

The Marvel Convenience Center is located on CR 134, approximately 2.0 miles south of where it intersects with CR 100 in the Town of Marvel, Colorado. The address is 1765 CR 134. Transit Waste currently operates these facilities for La Plata County.
