Operation of the Community Calendar
Purpose of the Community Calendar. The Community Calendar is provided as a service of La Plata County, Colorado, to neighborhood groups, community organizations, and other not-for-profit groups providing services to La Plata County Citizens.
Scope of Announcements. Announcements that advocate political, religious, social or other causes are beyond the scope of the Community Calendar. The Calendar is designed and made available to provide notices of meetings open to the public addressing community issues.
How to request an Announcement to be displayed. The Organization Representative must contact the County by filling out the request form - click here. They must provide the following information about their organization: type of organization, contact name, contact phone number, contact email address, web site address and the type of events your organization will be posting to the Community Calendar. Once you are approved you will be able to request events on the calendar. When requesting an event you must provide: the event name, location of the event, type and description of event, location, date, time, cost of the event, contact information (available for citizens to be able to contact if they need additional information). The County reserves the right to exclude or deny posting regarding the event if the event does not fall within the scope of announcements. The request should be made no later than 10 days prior to the event date in order to allow enough time for the county calendar administrator to post the event.
Editing of Announcements. Once an event has been approved for inclusion to the calendar the County reserves the right to edit announcements for purposes of grammar, spelling, and understanding, but will not intentionally change the substance of the announcement.
County Neutral in All Announcements. Inclusion or exclusion of a matter from the Community Calendar does not indicate any position taken by the County on any issue. The Community Calendar is provided as a service to persons interested in involvement in community affairs.
Errors. The County will try to provide accurate information. However, persons asking to use the Community Calendar do so holding the County harmless from any error that may be made in the posting of an announcement. In no event will the County be responsible for any damages arising from a misprint or other error. When errors are reported to the County through the calendar administrator, the County will make its best efforts to correct the error within a reasonable time.
