 The County Surveyor is responsible to index and file all plats deposited by surveyors with the County in accordance with Colorado law. The indexed plats are retained in the Clerk and Recorder's vault and are frequently used as a resource and reference by surveyors doing business in La Plata County. The County Surveyor also reviews and signs planning plats (those plats created as a result of a development project seeking approval through the County's Planning Department) to ensure compliance with County regulations and state statute.
